Course Description  This training program is divided into six comprehensive modules that equip participants with the knowledge and skills required to navigate the complex world of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG). Rather than focusing only on compliance, the course emphasizes how ESG can support stronger business strategy, supply chain resilience, stakeholder trust, and long-term value creation. Participants will learn how to assess which requirements and expectations may apply to their organization, identify the types of data and documentation needed for credible reporting, engage suppliers and internal teams more effectively, continually improve ESG in business operations, and communicate sustainability efforts in a clear, accurate, and defensible way.  This course is important for plastics industry professionals because sustainability expectations are increasingly shaping customer requirements, investor questions, regulatory obligations, procurement decisions, and public perception. By the end of the program, participants will be better equipped to navigate ESG-related risks and opportunities, improve internal readiness, support more consistent reporting practices, and position their organizations to respond confidently to evolving sustainability demands.  This certificate course is provided for informational and participation purposes only. It does not constitute formal academic credit, professional licensing, or legal certification. PLASTICS assumes no liability for any professional decisions, actions, or outcomes taken by the recipient based on this course.   Course Structure and Completion Requirements  This program is designed to promote knowledge retention and practical application through a combination of module quizzes, a final examination, and a capstone project.  Module Quizzes: Throughout each module, learners will complete a series of short quizzes that are integrated into the course content to assess comprehension and reinforce key concepts. Participants must achieve a score of at least 80% on each quiz to progress. Each quiz allows up to 10 attempts, and course progress is automatically saved, enabling learners to revisit course materials and resume assessments at their convenience.  Final Examination: Upon completion of all six modules, learners must successfully pass a comprehensive final examination consisting of 25 questions drawn from content covered throughout the program. A minimum score of 80% is required to pass the final exam, and learners are provided with up to 10 attempts.  Capstone Project: The program culminates in a Capstone Project, which challenges participants to apply the concepts, tools, and strategies learned throughout the course to a realistic business scenario. This practical exercise is designed to reinforce learning and demonstrate the ability to translate ESG principles into actionable business decisions.  Upon successful completion, participants will earn a Certificate of Completion recognizing their proficiency in ESG fundamentals and practical implementation and continual improvement strategies for the plastics industry.    Course Learning Objectives  Assess how ESG-related regulations, stakeholder expectations, and market pressures can affect business strategy, operations, supply chains, financial performance, and long-term resilience.  Identify major sustainability frameworks, standards, and disclosure systems, and understand how they can support reporting, stakeholder engagement, risk management, and strategic decision-making.   Evaluate ESG disclosure requests from customers, investors, rating organizations, and other stakeholders, and apply practical strategies to streamline data collection, reduce reporting burden, and improve response consistency.  Understand the role of Double Materiality Assessments, impacts, risks, and opportunities in identifying material sustainability topics and prioritizing ESG reporting efforts.  Apply data governance and assurance principles to collect, manage, document, and verify sustainability information, including greenhouse gas emissions, recycled content, supplier data, and other ESG indicators.  Recognize leading practices for supplier engagement and sustainable procurement, including setting expectations, prioritizing supplier outreach, measuring performance, and using data to improve supply chain transparency.  Develop sustainability communications that are clear, credible, audience-focused, and supported by accurate, verifiable information.  Use ESG concepts and tools to support continuous improvement, strengthen stakeholder trust, and help their organization respond more effectively to evolving sustainability expectations.  Read more
